House Clearings
House clearings are a wonderful way to energetically clear, protect, and bless yourself and your living space from negative, unwanted energies. Personal items such as jewelry, blankets, and/or clothing can also be cleared.
Other terms for this art are space clearings, and smudging. The word smudging comes from the Native American healing and shamanic traditions of working with energy, although every culture has its own way to clear negative energy.
Smoke from sage is used in our house clearings. Sage neutralizes and purifies negative energies.
Just as you can see dust and dirt accumulating in your home, negative energy can accumulate on an energetic level. You cannot see the “dust and dirt” of human emotions, but they do accumulate if not cleared. It is best to regularly clear these emotions out once or twice a year (recommended) or after an intense event, such as divorce.
It is also important to space clear a house that you have just moved into to clear away energy not belonging to you, especially if the house was a foreclosure.
